Purpose: Civil Engineers are trained to solve design, construction and maintenance problems of the natural and physically built environment. They plan, design and manage major construction projects. These projects include bridges, buildings, transport links, dams and other major structures. Civil engineers aim to tackle some of the major problems facing engineering today and lead the industry in research discoveries and design innovations. Our department aims to train civil engineers who work in various fields to develop solutions to design, construction, research and environmental challenges, and who are interested in projects at all levels for this purpose.

Mission-Vision: The mission of the Civil Engineering Department is to train professionals in the field, to prepare them for civil engineering positions, to provide advanced education, lifelong learning and social leadership. Our other mission is to foster the intellectual development of our students so that they can become productive citizens in service. The department is dedicated to providing a dynamic learning environment that emphasizes open-ended design, problem-solving skills, teamwork, communication and leadership skills.

Admission Requirements: Candidates to be accepted to Çankırı Karatekin University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering must graduate from high school or its equivalent. If the candidate has a foreign high school diploma, the equivalence of this diploma must be approved by the Ministry of National Education. As a result of the Student Selection Exam, candidates who meet the points and conditions valid for Çankırı Karatekin University Faculty of Engineering Civil Engineering in that academic year, and students who have the right to enroll in the department according to the provisions of Çankırı Karatekin University Foreign Student Registration and Admission Directive, can register by bringing the documents specified by ÖSYM for registration. Those who will enroll in the civil engineering undergraduate department should apply the registration conditions and procedures specified in the Çankırı Karatekin University Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education Regulations.

Program Description: Our department started its undergraduate education in the 2018-2019 academic year and aims to provide the necessary technical competencies, tools and personal opportunities that will enable its students to continuously improve their understanding, expertise and professionalism. Program language is Turkish. Our department provides formal education-primary education and tuition is free of charge. The education model is face-to-face and distance education model. Face-to-face and applied courses are held in the Civil Engineering classrooms of the Faculty of Engineering. While preparing the courses to be included in the department, the elective courses as well as the basic courses in the relevant departments of the universities that have been providing education for many years in both domestic and foreign universities have been carefully examined, and care has been taken to include courses in the fields that the students who will graduate from the department can study.

In their 4-year Civil Engineering education, students progress in their engineering education with a curriculum that includes courses that form the basis of important subjects of civil engineering such as statics, dynamics, structural statics, and strength. In addition to departmental courses, courses in mathematics, science and other engineering disciplines are also offered to assist in their further studies. In addition, in their final year, our students receive a graduation project that can solve a comprehensive problem of the type they will encounter in real life.

Assessment and Evaluation Principles and Graduation Requirements: Conditions that students must fulfill in order to obtain a Civil Engineering Bachelor`s degree in accordance with Bologna criteria; 210 ECTS from civil engineering compulsory courses and 30 ECTS from technical and non-technical elective courses, a total of 240 ECTS required to graduate. In addition, students must complete two internships, consisting of a total of 40 (20x2) working days, in companies providing services related to civil engineering. In order to graduate from the program, it is necessary to have taken and succeeded the required courses stipulated in the program, to successfully complete applications, internships and similar studies, and to have a graduation weighted average of at least 2.00. Civil Engineering Program measurement and evaluation principles are determined according to Çankırı Karatekin University Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education Regulations.

Employment opportunities: When civil engineering students graduate with a bachelor`s degree, there are many different options available to advance their careers. Students can continue their graduate education by taking the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Examination, and progress academically by completing the required scores and exams. Civil engineers can be employed in public institutions and private sector project offices with project drawing works.
